Q What makes the Dirty Blood series special?
A It's a couple of things. First, I wanted to explore a world where the line between good guys and bad guys became blurred. Werewolves are one of my favorite paranormal creatures--animal instincts make for killer action! And the love story is not what you'd expect. A racial divide combined with all the hormones and feelings of a teenage girl with a stubborn streak and a mysterious guy who has experienced more loss than most people can handle.
The whole series is designed to make you fall in love--with the characters and the story. You'll definitely want to turn the page to find out what happens next and whether they'll kiss or kill!

Where is Faithfulness and Loyalty? What happens when Wes finds someone to Kiss?

It was good to be back in the world of Hunters and werewolves again, but the only character we really get to see in this story is Tara. It is not like a typical second book which is normally just character development driven. This one introduces a completely new cast of characters and could really stand on its own. If you read it first in the series, you will fall in love with Alex and wonder why Tara even likes Wes. And that is what bothers me about these stupid love triangles - where is the loyalty?
***SPOILERS***
Tara goes to school to learn to be a hunter while Wes stays home to learn how to lead The Cause. Tara's new trainer is sexy senior Alex and it is no mystery that these two are going to be attracted to each other. He has already saved her life in the last book at the wherehouse and ends up saving her life in this book several times. He is attracted to her and knows she has a boyfriend, but can't stay away from her. Wes comes on a full moon to read Tara's thoughts and sees that she has kissed Alex. He is surprisingly understanding about it all.
Love triangles may be interesting plot lines but where is loyalty and faithfulness? Besides this is so sexist. What if Wes was kissing another girl while Tara was at school being faithful? He'd be a jerk so why isn't she? I wish the authors would just have the first couples break up and leave them FREE to pursue another love interest. I kept wishing Wes would tell Tara that he had kissed Victoria while she was on assignment with him and let Tara have a little taste of what that would feel like. Playing with the affections of both boys is wrong and she knows it.
Wes has to deal with a lot for the Cause behind the scenes and apparently finds it more important than keeping Tara safe. This really makes the reader prefer Alex and wonder if Tara and Wes really are soulmates. There was a totally unsatisfying reunion between Wes and Tara on a full moon and Tara's attitude was nothing short of immature. She is kissing Alex behind Wes's back and she is mad at him for reading her mind? Please!
Overall, I like Heather Hildebrand's style of writing as it is easy to read and not too repetitive. You get a lot of story for the price and it is interesting read. I just am getting so tired of these love triangles and the lack of commitment to one another. It seems that it is fine if the girl is stringing two guys along, but not if the guy is stringing two girls along. Neither situation is right and the reader needs to see that what Tara is doing is mean.

Best werewolf and hunter story out there!

The best werewolf/hunter series I have ever read! I am already itching to start the third book. If you liked Dirty Blood, you will love Cold Blood. Tara is sent off to Boarding School and the kids are pretty awful, but Tara finds a couple of good ones in the bunch. I really enjoyed meeting some of the new characters in this story like Logan and Cambria (Cambria Hebert that is, ha ha I see what you did there Heather ;) )And of course, Alex. More on Alex later.
Tara was great in Cold Blood. She is still impulsive as ever, but honestly I don't think I would like her any other way. A few times, I wish she would have given her friends a little more credit, but I get why she was hesitant. Cambria is hilarious. I instantly liked her, just like she instantly liked Tara. I loved it when she said that they were future BFFs on her first day after everyone else was so awful. And Logan is such a sweetie. I just wanted to hug him.
We don't get to see too many of the original characters from the first book because they are still all back at home and still working on Cause things. New setting, new people, but the story was just as great. I was instantly absorbed back into the lives of Tara, Wes, and now Alex. Ok, now lets talk about Alex. Alex is Tara's new trainer at school. We saw him in the warehouse fight very briefly at the end of the first book, but he plays a huge role in this story. He is a new potential love interest for Tara. Making this story officially a love triangle. And just so you know something about me, I am almost ALWAYS team guy #1, which would be Wes. I don't know why. I get to know them first and form attachments to them and then I am loyal to the first guy. But with this story, I found myself liking Alex more and more. I don't think I have ever been as conflicted in a love triangle! Darn you Alex for being so great! I still love Wes, but we didn't get to see too much of him in this book and Alex is a really great guy. And I think he might just be a little better for Tara. Ahh! I don't know. I will have to leave my decision until the next book.
Tara goes through new hunter training and she also goes through some changes. I was just as curious as Tara was about her new temper, and what her "gift" might be. We still don't know, but we are left with a crazy glimpse into it at the end of the book. Book three is going to be nuts. Heather Hildenbrand does a fabulous job writing excellent characters and she keeps the plot moving at a perfect speed. You will not be able to put this book down. This is now my go to series for werewolf or hunter recommendations.

Wow, its not often a sequel is even better then the first book but Cold Blood was amazing!
Tara is shipped off to a boarding Hunter school. Wes is in training to take over The Cause. Miles is still out there and leaving Tara threatening messages . Tara has to learn to fight. She also has to deal with everyone at her new school hating her and making fun of her for being a Dirty Blood. Then we meet a lot of new characters that I totally loved.
I remember that I loved Wes from book 1 but in book 2, I am like Wes who? I am totally in love with Alex! I love him. And I think he is great for Tara. He treats her like an equal when Wes sends her a babysitter to watch her every move. Alex is just great and I really loved every time him and Tara where together. You will just have to see it for yourself.
I totally think you should read book 1 first. That way you have the whole story or you might be a little confused. Both of these books were great and I really enjoyed them. I am super excited for book 3. This leaves you off on a cliffhanger and I really want to know what is going to happen. Something is obviously changing in Tara, what will happen to George and will Tara choose to try it out with Alex (please say yes!) Great book!!!!
