The nurses were shocked !

I truly believe this book helped me through a 5 hour pain free birth of my first born! I bought it and thought it's probably not going to work, I'll probably end up getting an epidural and that's ok because I would have tried.
I kept waiting for the pain to get to string but I never felt pain, 4 and a half hours later I was already in active labor and realized I wasn't going to need the epidural, 30 min later I had my beautiful baby girl in my arms.
No pain, no screaming, I slept through all my contractions.
I was skeptical purchasing it but it helped me trust what my body was created to do :)

I read this book hoping to deliver my 2nd baby without pain medication. While there were a few insights, I did not find this book effective in teaching me anything useful.
This book is geared toward women who want a natural childbirth with as few medical interventions as possible and women are looking to birth outside of a traditional hospital setting. There is a whole section that seems to demonize birthing in a hospital and traditional OBs. I personally believe in modern medicine and think hospitals are great. I simply did not want to use pain medication.
The book focuses on trying to teach self-hypnosis in order to remove yourself from the pain. I tried some of the exercises, and it seems that to actually learn how to do that, you need to go to a class.
I much preferred Mindful Birthing. It was a better fit for my personality and birth plan. The exercises are much easier to do on your own. There is an accompanying CD, which is free with amazon prime.

A must have!

My sister in law recommended this book for me and i have bought a few copies for a few friends.
My pregnancy brought us many joys and excitement, but a lot of questions and also some nervousness. The minute I found out I was pregnant, I hurried up to get apps and books to "get ready". Some books such as 'What to expect when you are expecting' was the first one I read. Even thought it tells you a lot about pregnancy, what goes with you body and the baby; it didn't quite tell me how to be ready mentally. I knew I wanted a natural birthing, but I also wanted to make the right decision and do what was best for my baby. Even though I had to get an induction because of various reasons, this book really helped me to stay calm and very positive through out my induced labor of 19 hours. I didn't have a natural birth as I expected but I can truly say that this prepared me to do the best I can.
